I have just acquired an Elddis Crusader Emperor 1983 from a kind member on freecycle needs some work doing, which I dont mind but I only have a Rover 214si with a 1.4L engine will I be able to tow the caravan with my car. What size engine will it need if not?

you need to find out the weight of your van first.

you might be a bit underpowered but i know of people that tow with a 1.4.

the weight of van and car is just as important as your engine.

i had a 416 si and tryed to tow my mardon supreme which is about 1000kg ish and it was totally useless!!!!!! .

briant.. i have a 216sli and an eccles topaz..  it pulls it no problems try these links they will help massivley.. as i was more or less told same probs with you..  you engine has more tork but mine is ithe honda....Towing Tips      NTTA - Trailer Law - Trailer Maximum Weights

Concentrate on the weight match of your car as well as the engine.

 

Alkodude are you sure your car is a match for your van. You seem to be overweight by quite a lot.
