My Company "car choice" papers came in the post. After ten seconds I had whittled it down to two.....I am now stuck.
I can have a "New Mondeo" 140ps Ghia Estate or a 125ps S-Max Zetec. I am making discreet enguiries if I can have the 140ps S-Max as this has a significantly better towing spec....but I don't think I can push them to a Titanium S-Max.
I have driven a Mondeo for ten years in various guises and was hoping for a change. All in all I think I may stick with the Mondeo and have all the bells and whistles that I am used to.
Or maybe not......I could come out of the scheme and finance my own car..but although on paper it's attractive, in reality possibly more hassle than it's worth.

Hi there Rizzo,
Yes, there is that, but...the car is part of my salary, it costs me an arm and a leg in tax.
To be honest I may as well enoy it whilst I can, my pension ain't worth a bean and job security is less than most.
I will no doubt push bike to B&Q with "Dave" written on my apron in my later years...(I have aways fancied working in the lawnmower department).
Then..... as me old mum used to say..."as long as you have got your health, David"...
anyway, back to the question Mondeo or S-Max!

There can be no comparison, they are two totally different cars so you need to decide what you want. The "new" modeo bears little resemblence to the old one so if you are getting a "new" "old" one it will date very quickly.
I would never go back to a Mondeo after driving the Smax, but thats my choice and may not be yours.

Hi,
No it is a new "new" Mondeo.
I have driven the S-Max and was very impressed, yet to drive the new Mondeo though.
What trim level is yours?
cheers

I got the Zetec with cruise control and a couple of options, the build quality is typical Ford, not near as good as my previous Audi Avant but I much prefer the extra room and driving position.
If you dont need the extra two seats I would recommend the pull out tray in the boot.

Thanks for that, the "options" at the moment on the Zetec do look a bit sparce, my current car has cruise control and auto wipers, facilities that I would be unhappy to loose.

Further Update-Never take anythng for granted!
Careful review (by Mrs Ulti-Mate) of the Ford brouchure shows that the roof bars, which are on every level of "old" Mondeo Estate, are in fact an option (£100) on all new models. (£200 if you want silver)
What a swiz!
