we just want to give our much love jeep a posting to tell fellow towers how great it tows!

our jeep is a 2.5td with a max tow weight of 2800kg on a run with our 1480kg van we get around 28mpg towing we find this a good return on a 4X4

we always check out the new tow cars but never find our jeep in the mags! its a new shape jeep and with a new model cherokee just come out we would love to buy a jeep again!

does anyone else have a jeep cherokee and love it just as much as use!

Nope! looked at one and test drove (it was 2.7) and couldn't get more than 22 mpg.

Settled for a new style Santa Fe CRTD CDX7 and love it to bits.
Pulls the ace (1641 kgs) no probs at all and returns 33 - 35 mpg on a good day ( no wind) and on a recent trip (solo) round the lakes returned an astonishing 53.8 mpg (I have a photo to prove it)

I have a Landrover Discovery 300tdi, 125000k on the clock, pulls like a steam train, ( the best 4x4 by far,) will the Jeep do that at that milage?. Nice to have competition, ( Check www.mud-club.co.uk). Love my Disco.

I used to have the old style Cherokee which was a 4 litre petrol

Sports car performance but could tow my track car on a heavy duty trailer without breaking into a sweat. They were built to cross continents...

Hi Kev

I'm on my 4th Jeep now, 2 Cherokees and 2 Grand Cherokees, I changed to the 3.0 CRD in May.

I looked at the others, Land Rovers, Mitsubishi, Kia etc (I didn't try a Toyota).

But there is only one Jeep, everything else is just another 4x4.

See what you've started!!

Cheers

Paul

i feel that the jeep would have no problems doing well over 125,000miles as long as you keep up with servicing and as for the disco as a well experanced merchanic had to change a few disco engines at around the 70,000mile mark but have never done a jeep yet! have friends with discoverys and they have 2 weeks of use and a week of fixing problems but yet again the jeep still copes with the off roading the school run and even the racing of the lights (great fun when the turbo kicks in).

everyone has there fav 4x4 but like paul says there is only one JEEP

Yee-Haa-another Cherokee fan here!! Remember - "A Jeep ain't no SUV & an SUV ain't no Jeep!" Love mine-may not win the group tests or be the most economical, best handling etc. but who cares - not everyone wants the same thing or the world would be a grim place to be!

See you all soon, Bernard

P.S. Does anyone else do "the Jeep Wave" or is that just me??

Not my wallet Al!! if it's upturned & shook all that floats out is a load of moths  !!

Jeep Wave is me waving at other Jeep drivers only for June to laugh at me when no-one waves back ....

Must come from my past biking/reliant driving days!!!!

See ypu all soon, Bernard

Hi, just bought a 2.5td jeep cherokee,02 plate 45k miles. to tow my 1990 mint condition elddis shamal with.

Hope im impressed with the jeep as you are.

Felt good on the test drive, bit of body roll, but it maybe cos im not used to it.

Gone from a 2.0Hdi 110 bhp citreon xsara so hopefully will notice a lot of difference as the xsara felt it was really struggling.

Hi, I have a grand cherokee 4.0 petrol and i get around 15- 17mpg with the van on the back. but i set the cruise at 58mph to climb the big hill eastbound out of north wales (forget its name) and the car never faltered at all, i passed everything, but the downside was i was only getting 4 mpg, i think that i need to convert to gas!!

I have had the car 3 years, and had it serviced yearly and never ever had anyproblems with it other than a set of brake pads.
