There's a peugeot 407SW 2.0HDI 170 sport in the supplement that came with the c & cc club's magazine this month a joint effort with practical caravan and what car, towing awards.  The towing mpg is given as 34mpg, kerbweight 1750kg, 85% of kerbweight 1488kg, max towing limit 1900kg, towball limit 65kg if that's any use to you?  mostly gobbledy gook to me!

That seems like an excessively high kerbweight for that car. I've seen that supplement and looking at the grouping of the car it's listed with 4 x4's and people carriers. The VW Passat, which won, is a similar car and only weighs in at just over 16ookgs. Seems odd. But then so is the subject of caravan matching.

Thanks Kate & Harry, had a look at your comments on Towing match, seems its not as straight forward  as it should be.

Do you know of any web sites that give you mpg figures?

Not for towing mpg. Perhaps ask from Peugeot owners

Fuel consumption for towing is really what you make it by your driving style. The difference between mpg at 60mph/50mph can be quite considerable. My outfit returns between 28/30mpg. But coming home yesterday it only returned 26.8mpg and I cant tell you why. Same driving style and good weather conditions. Strange.

Charlie, what do you need a caravan for, just got a tent, already got the company trailer thats plenty big enough for all of you, (if you take the G20 out)!, a couple of hammocks for th kids, even room for your fridge and the whisky collection.

Hi chick,

Heard the kerb weight is not to bad for the 407 but not your 407.

Me too, 2L HDi - around 34 towing (but we have only a 2-berth van), around the low to mid 40s around town and anything up to 58 on a solo run.
