 DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE NEW TAX RULES ,EG WHAT YEAR IT EFFECTS ??????

I have been on dvla site and managed to find it was to take effect on 06 models onwards but i went to buy a 55 plate kia sorento 2.5 turbo diesel and the fella in the garage says it would take effect for models from 02 plates onwards????

I know dvla site would be correct but it is a very confusing site??

can anybody clarify this for me?

At the moment the £300 tax bracket is for cars registered after something like 23rd March 2006 from memory.  Cars registered after March 2001 are taxed based on emissions whereas cars registered before that are taxed based on engine size, less than 1500cc and more than 1500 cc, again from memory but it is roughly those figures.

Don't get too confuse by the term 4x4.  The tax level is still applicable based on CO2 emissions for the vehicle.

true bertie it does not need to be a 4x4.could be a RR.

 It can be the same vehicle Kia Serento manual or automatic, the manaul is in the lower band the automatic in the higher band.
