Sorry this must be really boring but I am confused but want to buy a caravan and dont want to change my car.

The kerb weight of my car is about 1360 kg so as I understand it that is the max weight I can tow. (I am aware of the 85% recommendation.

My car handbook says the max towing weight is 1100 kg. I assume that this is somthing to do with the design of the car. I further assume that if I exceed 1100 kg then I will invalidate my insurance and warrenty. Am I correct?.

If your max towing weight is given as 1100kg then you must not exceed that, and you are correct in your assumptions. It does not matter what your kerbweight is in this instance. What car do you have?

Thanks for your reply I have Peugeot partner 2.0 deisel. i like this because of the sliding rear doors and I can get 2 bikes in it crosswise.

It sounds like a very handy vehicle, what a pity it has a low towing limit. You will need to look for a lighweight van.

Best light weight vans are the Eribas,remember it is the Train weight that is important my !.6 Fiesta is a very powerful small car but about 105 kilos too light to tow with
