I have just acquired an alko stabiliser from a friend, barely used and only travelled around 2000 miles.  I also purchased a new alko towball to go with this which I fitted no problems and thoroughly cleaned of all paint etc.

Question is when towing it creaks like crazy on turning etc and I just wondered if this would clear after a few miles run in on the new towball or is it normal anyway.

Can feel the stabiliser working though which is good news.

Would be greatfull of any advice.

thanks

Emma

clean the alko pads with brake cleaner and the towball.. then check if they seem glazed or very shiny after cleaning ...if so replace pads ...simple job cost about 35 quid set of 4  two sides and top and bottom    but the towball will probably bed to the stabiliser in a few miles..so do what you feel is best wait or renew pads ...i would do the latter after 2k miles anyway ..but thats me

Ours has creaked from the day we bought it. New Alko, new pads, new towball.
Ain't no way to stop it unless some form of lubrication is used which goes totally against the idea of friction damping.
