hiya im looking for some advice please.... ive got a 2006 ace supreame sunstar twin axle. could anyone please advise me on what tow car i should be using...i dont really want to go and buy a 4x4 as im not keen on 4x4s i had a 2.5 diesel L reg lwb shogun last year to tow my old van and i must have really bought a bad one as without towing i was lucky to get 21 mpg and whilst towing i was getting around 10-15 mpg... many thanks.....neil
-----click here to find max towing weights of most cars. you will need to know the fully loaded weight of you caravan of course. its best that your caravan weighs no more than 85% of the weight of the towcar but its not illegal to tow right up the the car's maximum tow weight.
------------- Sell my camper? I'd rather eat school semolina!
hiya the max loading weight of my van is 1725 the unlaiden weight is 1425 so im a little stuck on what car to get .like i said i really dont want another 4x4 ...thanks for the reply....
The problem with that weight is that there aren't too many ordinary cars with KWs in the mid to upper 1700s. You're looking at something like a high-end Volvo V70 TDI estate. Possibly also an A6 Allroad, but they don't come cheap!!
If your twin-axle has that sort of ULW then it's MGW will indeed be around what you're reckoning. And for that weight and size of van you really are looking at a 4x4 for safe and comfortable towing.
thanks for all the advice..on that subject of my caravan. ill have to save my pennies for a while and see what i can do...once again thanks all for the advice.....neil
