Just going round in circles here, bickering really, I'm in a very good position to advise, knowing better than most how dangerous it is to drive without sleep. Whereas somebody who has never attempted such a foolish endeavour may be unlucky enough to discover it is actually the last thing they ever do.
You are just trolling here, contributing nothing constructive to this thread at all, where I am using my experience to try & save lives, all you seem to want to do is to do is sl*g me off in some bizarre attempt to defend the original poster who appears to have long ago given up & gone home.
The op & myself do appear to agree that driving day & night without sleep is misguided, I dont agree that its a mistake tho, its a deliberate act of stupidity.
If your attempt at points scoring requires me to admit to hypocracy & foolishisness then I am happy to do that knowing that I have made a difference & maybe saved lives.
This thread was started with a troll post really, it certainly had no place in this forum, it belonged in trivia, I have attempted to turn it into a more useful thread aimed at trying to save lives.
Your posts on the other hand have just been attempts to sl*g me, all water off a ducks back really.
I'm just happy that I have the moral high ground on this. I would say between myself(deliberately)& the oringinal poster(unwittingly)we have managed a constructive & useful thread aimed at saving lives.
All you seem to want to do is spoil an otherwise useful thread with petty point scoring.

Jaydee you are absolutely right, please accept my apologies for getting involved with Marty. Definately no Round 2 this end.
The initial entry by Fishfood was, perhaps, a little misguided. However he admitted his mistake and in a light hearted manner drew attention to a potentially dangerous scenario.
I just take exception to someone, Marty in this case, then taking the moral high ground (as he openly admits to enjoying) and beratting someone who has already admitted the error of his ways. Smells of bullying in a fashion ...
To make matters worse he then tells one and all how he has made, and Eastern European drivers still make, identicle if not worse mistakes but tries to justify it on the grounds that, in effect, he / they are forced into it. Incidentally I have also driven HGV's for a living and have not and will not allow my driving to be dictated by anyone other than myself.
I haven't attempted to point score or "sl*g off" I have just answered to or pointed out his own admissions of hypocrosy.
It is one of my life traits that I tend to defend others who are being picked on, goes in hand with my current job I s'pose, and I simply hate hyprcrites.
The End ............................ from me anyway.

Look at the posters history, a pattern emerges.
Oh. it would be so nice to be perfect. Some one comes on here and says some thing he or she has done some thing wrong.Every one is on then putting thier 2 pennorth in and all lets lose giving all sorts of advice as what they should or not do. In the end things get to be nasty and rude and can be even get to the extent abusive.

WG.
If a pattern emerges on my posting history it will be one of reasoned debate, I certainly dont get involved is petty sl*gging for the sake of it, usually it is myself who gets sl*gged for saying what those on here who want a cosy little forum of friends, would regard as the unsayable. ie somebody posts on here 'Ive dont summat stupid, I want sympathy' I might tend to agree, actually yes it was stupid & you were lucky you wernt killed so dont do it again.
Calling me a hypocrite for admitting to have done the same thing is just a cheap shot really. Generally the best person to advise against comitting crime is a reformed criminal.
If you read my post history you will see generally I dispense helpful advice based on the extensive knowledge I have gained from me travels around Europe both on holiday & earning my living.
Try reading your own post history first. See how that stacks up.

I just think that with a caravan you can stop and sleep for the night and make it part of your holiday. We have had several years of getting a silly o'clock ferry and driving to our destination or trying to sleep in the car before driving on. Either way we were knackered but now we have the luxury of a caravan and trying different municipal sites for our stopovers and it is far more enjoyable. But each to their own!
