we have just bought a new vw transporter t5 1.9tdi diesel. can you please help me i want to know what is the max weight i can tow and width can anybody help thankyou in advance

I believe your kerbweight is approx. 1735KG so in theory up to that weight will be legal but 85% is the recommended weight for newcomers to towing.

2.3 metres is the maximum width you can legally tow with this vehicle.

Just go to Volkswagen commercial dealer or look on the VWcommercial website. if you look look up the spec of a VW 1.9 van & it should tell you towing weight.

thankyou every one i was hoping to buy a hobby large one so mine isnt commercial enough to tow it then.

1.9 is not really going to tow much, especially up hill. I have a 2.4TD Toyota Hilux Surf and that is often well under 50mph on hills, flat out. Accelerates well solo and cruises nicely at 70 (ish). The Surf weighs about 2.2 tonnes, so maybe a little bit more than a Transporter, but my van is only 850kg.
