Dear all
I have looked on the relevant links but it does not answer my querry.
I have a Bailey ranger 460/4 i currently tow with a BMW 1 series diesel (not a problem). However I am thinking of changing to a 4x4 and i like the Kia sportage.
My problem is I have seen a sportage 2 litre petrol which only has half the torque the the diesel engine would have, + the miles per gallon are less but not that much.
has anyone been in the same position does anyone tow with a petrol sportage or am i too fussy.
yours pr

Used to tow Avondale Kestrel 1100kg with the old Kia Sportage with the Mazda 2ltr based petrol engine 24mpg towing good tow car, what petrol engine is in the new sportage i don.t know but should be ok the only difference is the torque and MPG.

I have a diesel sportage. Much more torque than petrol, 6 speed gearbox, slightly better fuel economy, and more expensive to buy new and used. Petrol power will do the job fine, but diesel is an easier drive, as you will need to change gear much less often and your engine will not need to rev so high, so noise levels should be lower. Whichever you choose you will end up with a super tow car and a reasonably cheap to run 4x4 for solo use!
