Hi all, now come on guys and gals, i really need your help. I need a vehicle that will tow a large Bailey Ranger 5 berth, I have looked at so many, but cannot find"the one".

It needs to be a diesel auto, but not an estate or saloon car as my wife has had a lot of back surgery, and cannot get in or out of low cars. My car has to have good fuel consumpion, The car i like is the mitsubishi grandis, but they dont do a diesel auto.

I am on a limited budget, and can only go to £6,000 max. I would be so grateful for any advise. Thanks

Richard

Hi Richard, which Ranger do you have and what year is it?  Do you know the MTPLM of the van as the Rangers are not overly heavy?

How many miles will you do in the vehicle?  I ask because the price of diesel and additional purchase cost means anything under about 10,000 odd you might as well go with a petrol auto and widen your choice.

In your profile you have not given your location. If near Wigan, I'll give you name and address of where I get my cars. Volvo's, you can't beat 'em!

We had a Santa Fe, a lovely towcar and very comfortable. But hubby wanted something with a bit more power as we had changed vans.

On a quick look on autotrader using your stated criteria, 2 Zafira Bs (the later ones that give a 1400kg tow weight) within you budget within 20 miles of Basildon (not too far from Southend).  These cars are also only 3 years old.

Galaxys gave 7 within your price range, but they are a bit older...  Galaxys especially are quite popular towcars.

Unless you have shares in a fuel company, I would shy away from towing with a biggish engined petrol auto!!!
