Hi we have just got back from our first outting and everything fine but the car stops on the hills EG the M65 hill at Darwin service's to M61 i was down to third gear but i didnt take the rev's above 3000 at anytime.
The only other way i describe the cars performance is that it was like driving a wagon up a hill and the hill kills the speed.
I think the fuel was about 18 - 20 mpg with the van .
The van's weght was about 1200kg it wasn't near the max only 3 of us this time.
Do you think this fuel return is good or should i be looking for a santa fe 2.2 diesel or may be a kia sorento 2.5 diesel. Any car needs to have seven seats .
Have you had the car serviced recently? Ours is a 2.0 petrol and yes occasionally OH has to go into third but rarely, it sits happy in 5th occasionally 4th and always keeps up with the traffic even on hills at 60,It coped happily even on the hills on the A30 to Cornwall last year.
I asked OH And she reckons we get about 22-25 MPG when towing
Since we had it 12 months ago its done about 2000 miles towing and 15000 miles overall, its just had a major service and no problems found with 76000 miles on the clock
P.S. Our van is 1500kgs fully loaded,
I think the kia sedona has a 2.9 diesel engines, they are well rated on here.

------------- Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
I have the 2ltre diesel, 2003 plate with 49 000 on the clock ,it,s slugish on hills and you have to work the gears and it won,t win the le mans 24 hr race but is good on juice
I tow at 55/65mph depending on road and traffic
The only other problem I have is the anti lock brakes are knocking 3rd time now and my local dealer in Wigan is lousy at repairing it
The Trajet diesel is the worst MPV on the market, just ask any taxi driver in your area they eat gearboxes especially the manual ones the same apples to the KIA Caren's that uses the same engines and boxes
When they first came out many cabby's bought them due to the 5 year warranty available but they found to there cost that the dealers had them more than they did due to the gearbox and the lack of parts for them
For some reason or other the automatic did not suffer the same problem and there are many still going after 200K
Hi all the trajet has just been for its 4 year service maybe i should give it one more chance, and keep the revs a bit higher than 25000
Only did 120 miles and used 30 ltr's of fuel must be doing something wrong and i was not even flly loaded, was going to look at the santa fee but what ever we get it has to be 7 seats
Uggi / Dave try manchester Hyundia for your service etc cheap, helpful and good.
I don't think it has a turbo Skippy41, Nialls is the same as ours a petrol, not diesel, At least I don't think its got a turbo, I very rarely drive it and even when I do I only stay local and have never noticed a turbo kick in
