Don`t see a problem with the badge, at least they have a first-class reputation for reliability, which is more than can be said for the Renault.
If you`re waiting for the AA man badge snobbery doesn`t come into it.....

If money is tight I'd keep the diesel rather than the Octavia SR.

keep the skoda, its a VW golf or Audi A3 or even the seat Leon, in another body shell has a much bigger boot and could put any car to shame, and will still be running when the next generation of vehicles will be on the scrap heap.
The only thing letting it down is its not the diesel, apart from that enjoy it and have the last laugh on the badge snobs
Mine is coming up to 200K
have a look at mine in my pic profile

Swap the Renault for another Skoda but a diesel one , or both of them for a Skoda superb 130TDI
See whats advertised in the auto trader http://www.autotrader.co.uk/ then just phone about the one you fancy and see what deal can be done

lol - it's that great big shiny thing in the middle of the steering wheel
anyway - i'm a bit confused as to what the OP has got - i'm guessing a skoda 1.6 petrol, and he comparing it to a laguna that he used to own?
------------- Aye up me duck!
