Hi everyone,

I have an Abbey Vogue Gts 717 2003 caravan and I was wondering if anyone has fitted laminate in one of these vans. I don't fancy having the vinyl laminate look alternative but was worried about whether the laminate would affect any door's opening etc?

Has anyone encountered any problems or does it go down ok?

With a husband and two small children thought it would be more practical than carpet.

Any advice would be a great help as this is our first van 17

One issue could be weight, laminate flooring is not light.

I wouldn't laminate a caravan floor but we have laminate style vinyl which is wonderful just sweep it and give a quick wipe over with the floor wipes you can get.  We also have removable carpets which we never use.

Can't see why you would laminate it and not want vinyl?????

The laminate could always double as chocks on a sloping site!

We have the standard vinyl floor and the removable carpets.
We have yet to use them.
The vinyl is fine for us and our hairy dog!

Was put off the idea of vinyl as I didn't  think it would be that hard wearing but it seems that most people fit it without problems. Think I will give it a go

fitted vinyl at the kitchen end of our van so easy to keep clean .Unless you get the Laminate for kichens and bathrooms the cheap stuff is prone to swell if it gets to wet also the stuff needs an underlay and eats in to the weight you can carry.

problems fitting vinyl floor is.... there not as hard wearing as real laminate floor, but on that note a half decent look a like laminte fllor coving (vinyl) willl last approx 5 years if not more ( iguess its down to how much taffic it gets) a little bit of care when moving heavy items so not to drag and mark or rip flooring.

problems fitting laminate floor (bearing in mind I done mine) the unladen weight of van is increased, as mentioned laminate isnt really light weight, just check on the weight of one pack it shouldnt affect doors providing non of them swing over the floor area. finishing the edging is quite tricky it took me a while to get the last peice in good enough to trim up and trim never did end up finishing it off that good(due to cutting around prefitted furniture. the fire was a problem as well as that fitted so close to the floor so had to slightly raise it as i wasnt sure about air circulation around fire.

also bear in mind the type of flooring as the majority dont like like getting wet, i ended up using yatch varnish on mine 1 to protect from wet as im always parked in a muddy feild and 2 the mud was getting in the gaps where the 2 peices join (even though invisible to start once muddy the join showed

and then deleamination what will you do if the floor delaminates?
