according to my local paper the police and vosa were checking stopped caravans for overloading, towing ratios and other safety issues at strentham on the M5 yesterday for the bank holiday period ..anyone know more ..??
no but it will be good to see how many numpties get done for no mirrors if all vans are serviced and you are up to date with your loading and car is within limits why worry leave it to the people that will worry for the most basic cos they dont need mirrors

I read a different report which said that they had been stopping caravans which to them did not look to be in a good condition or looked to be overladen, this being the case it is not surprising that none of them was completely legal, they only stopped the really obvious cases

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
I saw this on the tea time news, they spoke to a police officer who stated that one caravan they checked was 33% overloaded!! (perhaps they had packed the kitchen sink).
We hopped onto the M5 for a few miles yesterday returning back to our caravan after a day out, OH counted the outfits with no mirrors - 4 out of every 5 going the other way! Unheard of, what the heck is going on?
