help please all you kind people, I have recently bought an abbey spectrum 520/5 and want to replace the existing hitch with an alko is this a diy job and how long would it take me thanks paul
Haven't done this, but it would seem to be a matter of two bolts/nuts, the correct torque and away you go. Others may come along with more detailed info but for DIY - should not be a problem.

Sorry - dunno - but looking at the items on e-bay as I was recently, it seems that some need spacers of some sort. You will need to research on which chassis and hitch you have - I think that the majority of the newer Alko chassis are fairly standard but others will be along to clarify this.

No more than 20 minutes with the right tools. Easy peasy.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

If I recall correctly, 2 19mm spanners. Take care to stop the damper retracting as you won't get it back out. The spacers come with a new hitch.
Insert a "dolly" or bolt as you draw out the old bolt. This will keep the damper in place, then insert the new bolt, pushing the dolly out at the same time. "U" shaped spacers are provided and you select the one suitable for the diameter of the drawbar on your caravan.
Before using the new hitch, make sure your towball is clean, rust-free and absolutely free from grease. Grease will contaminate the friction pads, and you would probably find it impossible to satisfactorily clean them. New pads are not cheap.
