We are looking at buying an Elddis Tornado XL which states that Fully Laden Weight is 930kgs. We have a Citroen Berlingo Desire 1.9 and have been told that we should look for caravans less than 1100kgs. I assume that the Citroen should be fine pulling the Tornado, or have I missed something. I don't really understand the ratios for towing etc. I'd like the advice from all the knowledgeable people on this site before we go ahead and purchase it.

The Berlingo you have has a max tow weight of 1100kg so you will be ok with the caravan you want. I used to have a Berlingo 1.9 diesel myself & it towed my Eriba Pan, weight about 750kg ok.

As it is a non turbo diesel you will need to use the gears uphill & you won't be breaking any speed records but it will do the job. I guess many would regard it as too slow but I found it ok.
