hi were thinking of buying a ford c-max 2.0tcdi ghia on a 05 plate looks in good condition & low milage just wanted to know if anyone knows how good a towcar & any info on it pulling power, only pulling 1000kg van  so i know its its within the 85% been it has max tow weight of 1300kg is this true many thxs ian

well we tow a 1200 van with a 1.8 08 petrol and not had any issues up or down hill

we use a c max 2.0 auto and pulled a catering trailer we now have a abbey lancaster 4 berth pulls that ok

thks for quick reply do you what i,d get m.p.g off a 2.0tcdi at the momoment we've got a 1.8 petrol focus estate which is bit thirsty when towing but has served us well as a first time towcar .but we,ve got the caravaning bug & thought its time to step up with a better tow car & venture further afield any other suggestions on other towcars just am used to fords also need it for work (carrying tools) have a budget of about £6000 plus part/ex (01 focus estate high milage)

We have a focus estate and a cmax and the estate has a much larger boot so check you'd have space in a cmax for all your tools. Otherwise you could try a mondeo estate or a galaxy (sticking with fords...)

I would advise you to go on net and type in your model there are a few forums that talk about the C Max. I own one and its very good with the caravan on flat or slope. Unfortunately we have had a few mechanical problems with it.

So take care when buying one.

Had a 1.8tdci for 2 years now and its a real good towcar. We have an Elddis Gulfstream 2 berth and even when the OH has filled it ready for a trip it pulls really strong. we live in Wales so flat roads can be scarce.On our hols in Cornwall which is 330mls she averaged 32mpg so I was really chuffed with that. 17
