Hi dont have one but would like one, a friend of our bought one brand new over a year ago and it is really lovely. His is petrol.
They do tow really well, we have horses and know that lots of people use them to tow horse trailers. They are really popular with horsey people. Imagine the weight of the horse plus a trailer and they dont seem to have any problems towing.
i have legacy 2005 3:0l petrol but running on lpg. does approx 11 yes 11 to gallon which is about 20mpg when you cost it out. these figures are when towing of course.when solo it can make it up to 20mpg which is about 38mpg when you allow for price differance.
when towing tends to stick in 3rd & 4th most of time so does rev quite alot which mite explain low mpg.
any legacy owners please contact me as would love to hear how you get on towing.
just had heavy duty springs made up as car was sitting on floor when towing!!!!!.
One of our fitters at work has an " outback" which is quite similar to a legacy, he gets 21- 24 towing a TT and not a lot more solo !! I'd love one but could not afford to run one
The diesel boxer engine is supposed to be amazing but they are fairly new and hold their price well !!

Before you decide, have a go in a Skoda octavia 4x4 tdi
The Subaru has a Kerbweight of over 1600kg and the Skoda is only 1350kg or something
I think the op will notice the difference coming from a mondeo. I would have thought that a 4x4 Superb estate would be more of a comparable car rather than a Focus sized Octavia.
