We plan to travel along this route from Grin low to the Malverns in the year and, looking at the map, there appears to be a 1 in 5, maybe 1 in 7 hill over the Roaches. Anyone out there travelled this road southwards with a Van at MTPLM 1570? Any problems?

We went to Grin Low on the A53 last year, although the road is steep in places and we had to change down from time to time we got there okay, it seems worse going from Leek to Buxton so I think you should be fine, there were plenty of caravans using the road. Dont know if you have been to Grin Low before but we thought it was a great site, peaceful and plenty to do, enjoy your holiday.

For what it's worth, I live in Leek and travel the road regularly. The hills are steep buy not *that* steep - you should be fine - lots of caravans and motorhomes use it and I've never seen anyone get stuck. The biggest risks on that road are probably the fog and the cross-winds, which can both take you by surprise.

Being as you're travelling from Grinlow to Leek you should be fine. The steepest hill would be going up from Blackshaw Moor towards Buxton, but as you will be coming down that one, no problems, just take care.
