Hi,

Has anyone ever seen or made 12S Socket to Cigar lead.

The reason I need one is I have a company car with only 12N electrics, it will be replaced in a few months so I don't want to spend any more money on it. In the boot there is a cigar lighter socket and thought it would be good to use this to power my fridge in the caravan through the 12S plug.

The cigar socket in the rear of the car is fused at 25 amps.

MMmmmm. The cables to the cigar lighter need to be fairly robust. Also best to pre-cool the fridge if you can, as the electrics don't like powering the fridges from warm (many a 12S plug melted if you do a search) We are lucky in that the 'van is on our front drive and the night before we go away we hook up to the mains and run the fridge overnight, or if setting off later in the day hook it up first thing in the morning and unplug it just prior to going.
HTH

Thanks Pete for the reply.

Unfortunately our caravan is stored in a compound  and there is limited space at home to plug it in a pre-cool the fridge. Maybe a few old fashioned ice packs will help it along the way.

Yes, for safety sake I too would suggest the ice pack method. After all, it is only for a limited period.

Cheap and cheerful,  plastic milk bottle 3/4 full of water, frozen the night before.  Large ice pack and can be disposed of once on site and fridge .working.

Absolutely - ice packs the way to go for you. On a camping weekend a few years ago, tenting, weekend with the hot-rodders, I had a coolbox with two big bags of ice from Tescos. There were still some frozen ones on the third day, and the beer kept lovely and chilled....

Nothing to stop you using a 12S to cigarette lighter lead too though. If the fridge does draw too much current, it's only going to blow the fuse in the car.
