could anyone help please, just had new tyres fitted on our van, as recommeded we went for an 8ply commercial tyre, same size but different load rating.
The tyre fitter wasnt sure about psi as its a caravan could somebody please work it out for me tyre is a 205/70/R14C 104/102P max 65psi caravan is an adria single axel 1300Kg fully loaded..
Also im i correct in thinking the wheel torque should be 98nm??
I recently had new tyres put on my caravan. The fitter put 40psi in them because that was what was recommended for the tyre, but the handbook for the caravan says 33psi. I rang Swift and they said whatever was in the handbook was correct, regardless of what was recommended for the tyre.
I've just come across an interesting Caravan Club guidance document that gives advice on choosing and using caravan tyres.
One paragraph was rather surprising, considering how many folks who post on here suggest reinforced or commercial grade tyres ...
"Do not choose a commercial grade (C suffix) tyre unless the load and speed requirements demand it, and a "car type" tyre is not available which can satisfy these. Commercial grade tyres may require a higher inflation pressure (see next section) and can be harder to find replacements for (see section on Travelling Overseas)."

Bit of a minefield really.
Yes, indeed, it is a bit of a minefield. For the tyres originally fitted to the caravan and for replacements that are of the same specification, the caravan manufacturers guidance should be followed.
If you buy replacement tyres that are of a different "higher" specification (e.g. commercial tyres with a higher load rating) then you have a bit of a problem. If you don't inflate the new tyres to a higher pressure they could run much hotter because they have a thicker, stronger carcass with more plies and that will increase the risk of failure. On the other hand, if you do inflate to a much higher pressure, you will reduce the tyre footprint, affect handling and tyre life and transmit more road shocks into the caravan structure, which isn't good either.
If you have fitted reinforced or commercial tyres and the originals were car type tyres then I think you'd be well advised to seek advice from the tyre manufacturer or use the guidance in the Tyresafe document suggested by michael.
I'll have a look through that. I don't understand tyres at all and normally just leave it to the so-called "experts". The girl on the phone at Swift was quite curt with me as if I should have known better than to ask!

She was probably just regurgitating something that someone else told her - someone that she regarded as "expert". You should get a more considered reply from Swift if you write to them. They'll be very conscious that the company will be regarded as expert and that if they provide advice, they will have a legal obligation to ensure that it is correct.
