------------- its easy enough to be pleasant when the world rolls along like a song.but a man is worth while if he can smile when every thing goes f------ wrong.
look at ADAC, although I'm already a member of The AA through LLoydsTSB
got a few trips into europe planned this year, done one already in my elderly Alfa, 2700 miles in 7 days, no break downs, C5 is next going to Eire in august...
anyway the point is The AA wanted £120 to upgrade for just 10 days, ADAC was 84euro's for a whole year :)
As I understand it, Arrival RAC membership through the Camping & Caravanning club gives you cover with no outfit restrictions. They assured me of that when I asked before renewing with them so it may be worth asking.
We've got family membersip with them & my daughter used it last year while on holiday in Cornwall. They recovered her broken down car back to her site, made sure she was OK & returned the following morning with the parts & fitted them to the car. All I paid for was the parts. A first class service delivered by a polite, dedicated patrolman.
Nice legs by the way !!!
We go the South of France each year and always take cover. I have MayDay via the Caravan Club but always take out the CC Red Pennant insurance both for health cover and Breakdown, 8.2 metre van by the way.
I had a need to use it last year (mechanical breakdown with the vehicle) and I have to say, I have never had such a good insurance cover, no quibbles, no indecision, first class communications, contingency plans in case plan A didn't work so to speak and truly a one stop shop approach, i.e. one call to a UK freephone number and the ball is rolling. Hire car arrrived 2 hours after my initial call, well impressed.
I got 3 extra days holiday in Spain (missed our pre booked ferry crossing)to catch another ferry up to Portsmouth from Santander, and my wife, who had to get back to go on a course, plus our 3 children got flown home to Birmingham airport. I could have gone as well and let a British pick up service bring the whole outfit back to our home doorstep, but the attraction of a few extra days took precidence, with peace and quiet !!!!!
All in all superb service, can't recommend it enough.
I guess the morral of the story is that whichever insurance you use, be sure that it covers all of your particular needs and as best you can, be sure that it will do what it says on the tin,
