Simply, it's the weight exerted by your caravan on the towball and is purely affected by how you load the van (nothing to do with how big/small the van is).
Basically, if you put a weight in front of the axle, that increases the noseweight, put weight behind the axle and you lower the noseweight.
Common rule is to load so that the noseweight is EITHER 7% of the weight of your van OR the maximum that your car can take (whichever is the smaller figure). The maximum is normally 100kg (the maximum an Alko chassis is rated to) and normally, only a large 4x4 can take that - a basic estate is normally limited to 75 kg, saloon usually about 60kg.

Hi mattlosatsae, Welcome to the world of camping, Remember and load all heavy items low down in trailer, and as close to the axels to help you get the nose weight rite, and if you have not towed before, your max speed is 60mph motorways and dual carrigeways,and caravans, lorrys,buses are not alowed in the third lane or more on motorways(unless diversions in opperation), tailers 50 mph max on all other single lane two way roads, even if road speed is above 50mph.hope this was of help to you. all you got to do now is enjoy.

PS Forgot to say check tyre press,carry set of spare bulbs,tyre life is only about 5years, then they need to be changed,as they degrade even if tred looks new and ok, there is more info on this site regarding tyres.
