Hi All,

Just about to order new company car and we have an Abbey Oxford 886kg. (not fully loaded with awning etc)

Bit confused about towing weights etc.

the Zafira is 1.9 16v and the Insignia 2ltr 16v ..... only two adults in the car....

any thoughts on these car's ability to tow the abbey?

I've not had either but I seem to recall several people saying that the Zafira wasn't a good towcar.

So long as it is a company car you don't need to worry too much about the repair bills some of the Vauxhall diesels produce. But then that's also true of many other marques as well.

yes, i have no worries at all about fuel consumption/bills etc etc... but unfortunately i've just found out that i won't now be able to change my car until end of next summer. So, potentially the caravan i have just bought which is in storage may not be able to get towed anywhere! as i drive a 1.7 diesel astra elite and i'm just trying to now work out if that's going to be possible!..........

Well my parents tow our 950kg van with their petrol 1.8 Astra so I'd suspect your 1.7 diesel ought to be OK. It depends on the spec. of course. There's a website you can use to match towcars & caravans.

Hi digisatman, new to this site and saw your post on the Insignia, is that your max loaded caravan weight or MIRO? I am probably going to get the Insignia tourer but not sure if it will tow my Avondale Dart 630-6. I saw a post from another site saying that there was a bit of a wobble at certian speeds? hows it been for you, looks a lovely car by the way :)

Thanks

Glen
