Used to tow with Kia Sorento....but went to France this year and towed with a BMW x5 the towing sensation was totally different.

So came back home and thought about changing the car to something slightly bigger & quieter and looked at a Discovery 3...read about them on Forums such as this and others and come to the conclusion you either get a bad one or a good one which appears to be the same on most forums about other make as well, so took the plunge and got one Discovery 3 with HSE Pack in Black with Beige Leather.

So far so good and as much as I liked the Kia its an altogether different car...and even more pleasing first reading of MPG around town was 24.8 my last reading on the Sorento was 24.6.

So all in all a quieter, nicer, bigger car with slightly bigger engine and should I believe pull the caravan better

Was the X5 different (better) or different (worse)?

The X5 which was a 3.0 Ltr Auto Diesel was much better to tow with than the Kia, unable to compare against the Discovery 3 as I have not towed the Caravan with it yet but I'm expecting it to be on par with if not better than the X5.

Lucky bugger.

Given it probably cost close to 2x what the Kia cost new I'd say it should be better...!

I wasnt that impressed when I tried a Sorrento at towing. Yes, it did the job well enough, but I honestly think our Galaxy does a much better job, & does over 40mpg solo. We dont tend to go across fields though, so 4x4 isnt something we need.

Lovely vehicles them Discoveries.
