We Have a 2009 Toyota Avensis Tourer TR 2.0 Diesel, kerbside weight 1,520kg, towing weight 1,600kg.

                                                                                                                      We tow both our caravans no problem, one  a Bailey GT60 520-4, MTPLM 1,326kg and the other is a Pageant Burgundy 1,400kg. We also get 33/35 mpg towing.

So I see no problems in towing with your 2.2 Diesel, whats the Kerbside weight compared to our Tourer ?.

 I tow my caravan with my 2.2d avensis 2006 model. Pulls it no problem caravan mtplm 1290kg car max tow 1300kg

We tow a 1550kg Eccles Moonstone with a  Avensis 2.2D4D Tourer 2010 model and don't have any problems. We are very pleased with it.

 i Tow with mine but the rear end seems very soft...even with the spring assisters
