We have a 2.9 2005 diesel manual. Tows our ABI Dalesman effortlessly. The rear is huge for packing all your caravanning gear and our kids love the DVD player. They are a bit on the cheap side (bit tacky and tinny) but are good value.

Thirsty cars (Automatic) - i averaged around 22mpg solo with local use, low 40's on the motorway.
However, spent as much time in the dealer as it did at home - had 4 ETAC units, new wiring etc before Kia gave up and gave me retail price in P/X against a new Sportage
Also, the high pressure fuel pump is very fragile - when it goes you're looking at huge repair bills.
But like everything, for every good review there's always going to be some bad ones!
We have had one now for four years. no major problems except a new starter motor. (Touch wood) Car is a good towcar, managing our Pennine, 1000kg, with ease. Fuel wise we manage to get around 25 towing or solo, depends on speed really. Nice stable outfit. Forget acceleration though, but when you do get up to 60mph it will keep it up all day.
we have 08 plate manual and its amazing at towing our 1598kg van did 1200 miles in may no issues only thing we have had problems with are the blooody electric doors which after 3 years they have decided there is a common fault and brought out a fix for it
I've had a Sedona 2.9 auto 03 plate for the last 4 1/2 years, up until this last week, I would have said a great car, yes it drives like a bus, but if you drive steady it is very comfortable on long journeys and great at pulling the van. Ecomomy isn't that bad as long as you don't have a heavy right foot.
Unfortunately this last week has been a nightmare, and looks like the high pressure fuel pump may have gone (see previous post), so could be looking at a £4000 bill, which is worth more than the car .

wow that's one hell of a repair bill, thought our bill of £1500 was bad after only owning the car for 5 months. Have you shopped around for different quotes? Hope you get it sorted
