Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to have only a 12s socket fitted. Originally had the bar and electrics fitted for a trailer never having the intention of getting a caravan again. How short sighted can I be!!!

Thanks

Does partly depend on the car and whether you're doing the work yourself.
Also, do you really need the 12S? It charges the van battery and runs the fridge but depending on the type of distance you envisage doing, it might not be necessary; I know quite a few folk who don't use a 12S with their van.

Its handy on a rally, if the battery gets low, you can just pop it on & run the engine for a bit. Think my local fitter wanted 50 to add one. I did it myself with a towsure kit. Was a doddle to fit. Hardest part was running two cables from the engine bay, having to thread through the bulkhead & behind trim panels. Ditto the not really needing it. Couple of frozen pop bottles will keep fridge as cold as it will get on 12v.

It has to have a split-charge relay, so the charging feed is cut otherwise starting the car would draw off the caravan battery.

Agree, having had one initially fitted to my car never really used it apart from being off EHU.
