we have just changed our car to a vectra c series 1.9cdti exclusive estate 2007,and we need to have a towbar fiited soon.
had a look round at diff. makes etc. but not sure which one to get fitted. now we don't want a detachable and need twin electrics but am bit concerned as regards distance from rear bumper that it will have to be was thinking of an ext6ended towball to allow for the elctrics plate and the stabiliser bracket and also the protection plate to be fitted and the bracket as we had with our vectra b.
it has to have a dedicated wiring loom fitted becaues of all the sensors etc on the car.
all sugestions welcomed but not going to get it fitted jsut yet due to the fact that the docs won't allow me to tow for the time being still under the hospital!!!
1) "..Had a look at diff makes..." Perhaps consider what Vauxhall (GM?) 'factory' fit. Possibly Westfalia. Perhaps make a call to Towequipe
2)"...don't want a detatchable..." A matter of preference, of course, but detachables are very good.
3) "...need twin electrics...". You may not feel it relevant, but soon all UK 'vans will have single socket 13 pin connections. Might like to consider this.
4) "...dedicated wiring loom...". More expensive, but certainly the way to go.
5) "...thinking of extended tow ball..." Might be useful to ensure that the fitting company is a member of NTTA. You can be more sure of correct advice, and have 'comeback' through terms of membership if work not up to scratch.
6) General comment: Ensure that all wiring is done in compliance with published Vauxhall conventions, not made up by fitting company.
ciao... just changing my car, and having new towbar fitted... I recently read somewhere that there is a problem if the tow ball is painted... what problem would a black painted tow bar cause? and what would I need to do to remove the black paint? many thanks
got the car and it has a black ball, so its down to the wet&dry I suppose... I fail to understand the last comment... am I missing something or just thick?
