Hi Maggie

Welcome!  We've only just started caravanning ourselves, so know exactly where you're coming from!  If you go onto whattowcar.com you can enter in your car and caravan details and it will give you a guide to the match.  Also if you are a member of the Caravan Club, you can check on their website as well.

Good luck!

Caravan don't really want to weigh much more than 1100kg all up for that car.

I think the caravan has a MTPLM over 1200KG.  If that's true, it's far too heavy for the car. The figures need to be checked,

93% match, Whilst this is legal it's very high for a new tower.

The laden weight of your van is 1350kg according to a recent ad on ebay.

And what's the laden weight Maggie, (MTPLM) which should be identified on a rating label somewhere?

Quick search on net suggests possibly in region of 1250-1300kgs but the Almera has a towing limit of 1250kgs max. Given the approx kerbweight (can't find exact spec for your car), the 85% recommend equates to approx 1220kgs.

Sorry, but while Bessie arrived at 93%, the max tow limit is 1250kgs, so ratio out the window

You really need to find the caravans plate, Usually near the door and find the exact gross laden weight.

If it is 1350kg its way too heavy for your car with a max tow of 1250kg.

If you got stopped your journey would be over. Also if you passed your test after 1997 thats extra points and a fine for driving without the correct licence.

Very important that plate.

might be idea to let others no where abouts you are in the world never no someone local might be able to take a look .

As for towing weight as said inportant and voisa will be hot on your heels and have the caravan inpounded and possibly your car if incorect licence .

my car is capable of towing our caravan but i always use my work van as more suited to it having towed trailers for living i wouldnt use anything unsutable or even close to limits of manufactures recomendations but thats just my choice.
