Hi, i have an alko 1300 which has the ratchet wheel stuck in the locked position, any ideas on how to free it?

I added this issue to another that was discussing the ALCO system, unfortunatley all the links seem to return a 404 error

I have bought the replacement pads from Towsure, but I am unsure as to how to remove the old ones.

All hints, tips and advice would be most welcome

Many thanks in advance

Dave

It's quite a few years since I had the same problem with my 1300, but from memory, I got a punch and hammer, and tapped/hit the spindle which is in the centre of the ratchet wheel, and it freed it up again.

I had this problem back a while & phoned my dealer. He said what they do is use a piece of wood to place on the nobbly grips on the winder & hit the piece of wood with a hammer to turn the winder. I tried this and it worked quite easy.

A small bit of wood about 6" lond & 1 1/2" square is good.
