I know that i may sound thick here but i have never owned a trailer before and have just bought one of these and am after some advice,  On the front for the trailer there is a chain that is attached on one end and then left dangling, my question is should this be attached at both ends of the chain or should it be connected to something else, advice needed please its something trivial but bugging me,  thanks

It's a "secondary coupling" intended (in the case of an unbraked trailer) to avoid a breakaway situation in the event of failure of the hitch/towball connection.

I use mine looped & drop it over the towball. In an ideal world it would attach to a part of the towbar itself in case it was the towball that failed.

I used to pad lock mine around the towbar with a shackle lock, stopped it being stolen while in services too!
