It comes from the friction pads and the only way to stop it is to take the stabiliser apart and clean then with some sandpaper and then put the unit back together making sure that when you do so it takes a pull of 55kg at the end of the lever to move the stabiliser. The only problem is that it will start again within a short time of tdoing the job. If you only want to stop it whilst manoevering then simply release the pressure lever on the satbilser and allow it to run free.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
