Am bringing my van back from Vendee in Nov and am planning to go from La Roche sur Yon to Le Havre via Nantes-Rennes-Averanches-caen-Le Havre. Usually go via Dieppe or Calais w/o van but now the petrol cost etc need to be closely looked at I reckon Le havre is the cheaper option this side and P/mouth to Cannock Staffs is also better,unless anyopne knows better,will be stopping o/night so if anyone has a favourite stopover close to the port please let me know.dont Know if its possible to stay on the Port overnight.
they have long term parking available, so overnight should be OK. One website says to please call 0 825 304 304 or (+) 33 140 66 1717 for more info. Pretty sure we stayed there for quite a while but it was a long time ago. There are sites within an easy drive of Le Havre and it may be cheaper to overnight there? Have a safe journey!

Not sure what kind of sailing you might expect in November.
An alternative to be considered is Eurotunnel no rough sea's there.
Following advice from this forum we recently stayed overnight at the Cite de Europe car park (Campervan section)before taking a very early train back to UK.
No noisy HGV's etc
Probably one of the best and quietest stop overs we have
