Hi, we are first time caravanners and new to towing...but we are loving it having returned from our 3rd weekend away.
However, we are still slightly nervous (or should I say I am as the nagging wife/passenger!) and the reason for this is the anti snaking device that came fitted with the Elddis Crusader Tornado.
We tow with a Range Rover and well within the limits.
My concern is that the brakes on the caravan have applied at certain times making us slightly wary as to why!
The first time was after collection after 2 hours happily returning on a motorway, we were on a bumpy back road going uphill and the brakes locked on. Long tyre skid marks on the road!
Also happened in the village on a long right turn with a camber but nothing as dramatic...going approx 15mph...just a short brake which hubby lets happen and then re applies accelerator.
Another time was on the motorway when OH sped up to try to create more space for a lorry joining on from slip road. The brakes applied slightly, a little tyre squeak and then all back to normal.
I think I'm just looking to know if this is normal as it is doing nothing for my blood pressure? Wouldn't be as worried if we didn't have two very young children in the back.
This weekend we had no dramas, just the right hand bend in our village where it always applies.

Hi just a thought check the length of the brake away cable, as it sounds like it happens when the van is further away from tow car i.e. accelerating, uphill and round corners.
Hi thanks for the replies. Had the caravan jacked up and apparently everything is moving and free. Nothing to suggest any problems. The towaway cable...I will ask OH to look at that but it seems fine and long enough. If we don't 'loop' it, it would drag on the floor!
