ok folks i now have a new question to put to all you experienced towers;
I've just bought a mondeo 2.0 estate 2005 fitted with reversing sensors in the rear bumper.I've heard that some or all towbars may interfere with the sensors.I dont know if it just affects cars like the mondeo or if it's a generic problem to cars with parking sensors.Of course i intend to have a chat with my local towbar centre but as always the help and advice on this site has been enlightening.
p.s. thanks for all the help regarding the vectra issue.
We had a 54 plate mondeo estate with a fixed tow bar but it didn't affect the reverse sensors. Might be worth trying to get a switch fitted in the circuit so that you can turn them off when the van is coupled. very ditracting trying to reverse the van with the sensors going off all the time.
I i'm from sheffield and have a 56 plate mondeo estate with reversing sensors My towbar doesn't affect them at all, although reversing with a caravan is made more difficult with them screeching whilst listening to the wife I used Mobile towbar sevices in sheffield, they came to my home and have done a nice clean job http://www.mobiletowbarservices.co.uk/ but if you ask most fitters they should tell you if the towball will affect sensors
