we have a bailley pegasus double axile. It is very difficult to move van requires 4 men,our seasonal pitch is very stoney, etc thinking of getting a powertouch mover

1. should we fit it to all 4 wheels ? That might effect our nose weight as the van is very heavy

2 would changing the jockey wheel help ?

3 thought if I fitted mover to back wheels and changed jockey wheel would improve moving
many thanks
lynda

if you get a good 4 wheel mover it will drive all 4 wheels , ie a set of rollers on each axle. not only will it manouvere the van easily but should counteract the noseweight by having the same weight fore and aft of the axle(s)

you could fit to back wheels and go pneumatic on the jockey wheel then lift the front of van right up on the jockey wheel so the front axle tyres dont scrub so much.

While I am not an expert the fitter that recenty did our single axle van said you should have four on a twin axle. The control board is also different on the powrtouch so if you only order the single axle kit you would need to shell out for a new board if you wanted to upgrade to twin axles. You used to be able to reprogram the board via the handset but can no longer do this.......I only know this as they sent us the wrong one for our single axle van!

We were very impressed with the powrtouch unit and think its the best money we have spent. Don't forget to haggle as they will price match if you go directly to them and they also offered us 6 months 0% to pay the balance!

The difference maybe the ability for the board to very slightly move the wheels on the opposite side of the van to help prevent them dragging.

Imagine wanting to turn the van 90 degrees to the right, If you just turned the left wheels forward the friction on the right wheels would be huge.

What a twin axle system would do is very slightly rotate the right hand wheels backwards a tiny amount. Still allows movement in tight space with less motor drain also.

I would recommend all 4 wheels. Was on a site 7 weeks ago twin axle with only 2 wheels fitted tried to pitch on gravel hard standing and the two driven wheels just spun round on gravel digging themselves in.It took 4 of us to push it out again.(this was fitted with powrtouch)

If you want to get the best from you movers on a twin axle you will have to buy a 4x4 set-up, and a good pneumatic jockey wheel
