Hi all,
Picking up the above tomorrow afternoon and have read good reports on its towing ability can any owners out there confirm how good it is? She will only be towing a folding camper at 950kgs.
Also i need to get a tow bar fitted before June any recommendations on companies in Buckinghamshire or id it a fairly easy DIY job?
Cheers
Simon

HI Simon
not driven one, but should be fine especially with 950kg folding camper.
I would personally say on a modern car, best to get an expect in to fit tow bar, as very easy to mess up modern electrics.
Also lots of modern cars have like a patch lead for the towing electrics, make sure any fitter does just patch into excisting electrics.
Sorry couldnt be more help.

Your main problem towing with a 320D is keeping an eye on your speed. Our last car was 2004 320D Touring towing our old 'van which was roughly 1100kgs, it towed really well, plenty of oomph when you needed it and from what I recall good on juice. Without the 'van on the back it was bloody quick as well, not your 0-60 mph time but quick in the real world when overtaking or hustling it down the back roads. You'll love it.

im not sure on you 320 but i fitted mine on my 528 last weekend and it wasnt the easiest i ve done, if you have the air rear suspension you will need the proper wiring loom as it changes the setting for this, auto box if you have one, and does the onboard, i got my bar and loom from towequipe.

Hi all and thanks for your replies.
Must admit I don't fancy a DIY job but not sure who to use in the area.
Am looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a BMW again

Hi all,
Had a quote of £340 for a detachable tow trust tow bar with twin electrics where the sockets fold away out of sight when not in use so the whole install is not visible.
Anyone got an install like this?

Mine had the factory fit option, the towball assembly fitted inside the spare wheel and the 13 pin socket folded up behind the bumper.

Thanks for your replies.
Will go with the quote I have been given for the invisible install as outlined in my previous thread. Other companies are wanting in excess of £450 so £340 seems as good as it is going to get.
Cheers

Next door neighbor tors with one of these, about the same age as well. It seems to be fine. Seems to do the job with ease.

Thanks for that Tony B. She certainly has more pulling power than my old Ford Mondeo.

Just be aware with the "invisible" install that some are more invisible than others. I think its the Witter one is not quite as invisible as they lead you to believe.
Mine is a Westfalia detacheable but as i have the M Sport 5 series its fits very neatly behind a removeable bumper section that you can;t really see unless you are up close
Ensure they are doing a dedicated wiring loom for that money as it sounds cheap
We tow our Pathfinder which is slightly heavier than yours but have the twin turbo diesel - as above cruise control is very useful. i've driven the 2ltr lump in a 3 series and an X3 and it pulls pretty well and indeed has good mid range power
