I have an opportunity to acquire an Elddis Wisp 450ct off my brother  but I need to decide which car is more suited to towing it (if either). It will be me and the kids using it during school holidays when my husband is working.  However he will need his car for work stuff but I have a VW beetle 1.6 petrol... it's not going to be a good towing combination is it?

Husband has 1.6 petrol focus 5 dr hatch- will that be any better/safer or am I dreaming?

Might just have to get it on a site and not actually tour around.

What is the gross laden weight of the caravan?

The focus will tow it but it wont be a ball of fire on the roads, The clutch might though.

Its possible the beetle maybe legal, But if it is it will be towing at its limits and you will need to be very very careful on what you carry in the caravan and the car.

You may exceed the gross train weight.

Fairly light for the size of the van but your cars a bit wimpy for it.

Thanks for your help.

I have found a friend with a 4x4 who will tow it to whichever site I decide to store it on. Might try it on just one site this year to make sure we'll use it then get a bar put on the focus. Think it's only 932kg but won't know for sure till I get to my brothers to see it!

Thanks
