My son has just got a Mercedes C220 Sport (12 plate) which has a kerb weight of 1610kg with a nose weight of 75kgs.

The current van is 1560kg MTPLM which is getting close to the limit so he is looking at getting a new van (1450kg MTPLM). Is the nose weight of the new van calculated from the MTPLM or the unladen weight?

The nose weight isn`t calculated from anything, its an `actual`.

Common practice suggests a figure of 7% of the caravan weight as the noseweight, but as you can`t exceed the 75kg figure given by Mercedes its irrelevent anyway. 75 kg is the max and thats it.

Thats under 5% of the caravans gross weight. The 7% is only a guide.

Thats quite a low noseweight. I know my avondale which is a lot lighter than that tows a lot better with the nose weight close to 75kg. A fraction under 7%

Below 6% and its noticeable. Your outfit maybe different.
