Hi there we have just bought a new to us swift 500 year 2005. Our car has a max nose weight of 80 kg, can anyone let me know what the nose wight of the van should be for the optimum ratio....many thanks in advance

Depends how accurate the scales are that you use or used.

As close to 80kg as you can get.

Its recommended that you get 7% of the caravans weight. You dont say what caravan you have and its gross weight but figures i have for the 500 models are well over your limit at 7%.

7% would be in excess of 100kg.

So load as close to 80kg as you can get. If you use the caravan noseweight gauges, Make sure its a calibrated one. The others are not very accurate.
