We are on our second (old model) they are very good towcars, both ours have been manual.

It pulls our Bailey Pageant effortlessly with plenty of grunt in fifth.

They are reliable too!17

Ours is a 59 reg Titan 168 bhp manual. The road tax is £230 ish I think( Its my wife's car)-autos are £400 plus!

If you are thinking of the new model, can't comment but look on Uk Sorento forum.

I know a couple of people who have them as towcars and have nothing but praise for them but they reckon the older model is better than the new one due to the fact that the towball weight limit is far less on the new one. I can't remember exactly what the figures were but I think it was said that the old one could take a maximum of 120 Kgs. noseweight whereas the new one is only around 80 kgs. Maybe a Kia Sorento owner could provide some accurate details regarding this.

I had a 2008 Titan. Fab car. Great tow car. Couldn't say enough good things about it.
So impressed I then bought a 2010 Sorento KX3 Kept it 12 weeks. Its half a ton lighter than the old ones and I hated it . Got a couple of really bad frights when towing. Tail wagging the dog. Towing at 83% and if I went above 53mph it just was all over the place.

Hope this helps

I have the 54 XS model manual,. Just done 2000 miles around france. Great towcar  but it is heavy, will pull just about anything but when towing expect about 21 MPG! Over 30 when not towing. Thats towing 1450kg. A question on here not long ago asked if they were any good as there were 10 of them on the site he visited!!!! lol

I have the old model Auto and after many manual tow-cars over 40 years of caravanning i will never go back to manual. The Sorento is the best tow-car i have had, better than the Discovery before it.I have had mine from new and will not part with it as the newer model does not match up to it for towing. MPG towing 22-23 solo 30-34 depending on terrain.

Change the standard air filter for the K & N replacement - good for another 2 -3 mpg. Wouldn't take long for it to pay for itself !.
