i have a vectra 3.0 cdti hatchback which i believe can tow up to 1600kg

i am looking at changing our caravan to a avondale rialto 640/6 but this weighs in at 1550kg

would this be a safe match as i have looked on one of match site and its about 89%

The Vectra 3.0 cdti has a kerbweight between 1570kg -1590kg
if your vectra is 2005 or older then its has the lower kerbweight of 1570kg and towing capacity of 1500kg
if its the newer model (Facelift 55 plate onwards ) the kerweight is 1590kg and towing capacity of 1600kg

Either way your vectra is not heavy enough to be towing a 1550kg twin axle as the towing match is 99% or 97% depending which year your car is .

If its a twin axle you want something with a stronger clutch.

Usually that means a 4x4 with low gearing to increase the low down torque.

Reversing and manoeuvring will work it hard.
