Hi all we have a 2008 mazda 6 2ltr diesel manual gears and it tows our 1050kg caravan great but we are looking to get a bigger van and most of the ones we like are around 1300kg some just under and some just over but unsure what I can pull, I have been towing for a few yrs now but not sure how to work out what I can tow? ? ?

Is the Mazda 6 a saloon or the estate version? I will try and provide some figures regarding kerbweight etc. and a percentage match.

The minimum kerbweight of the saloon is 1500 kgs. and the estate is 1545 kgs. so there is a slight difference.

The Mazda 6 2.0 ltr. diesel manual hatchback 2008 has a kerbweight of 1530 kgs. and calculating the match between this car and a caravan with an MTPLM of 1300 kgs. works out to an 85% match although the manufacturer states a maximum towing weight for a braked trailer is 1800 kgs. The car has 140 BHP with 243 lbs./ft engine torque so looking at these figures it seems quite an impressive towcar. Judging by these figures the car is more than adequate of towing a caravan of this weight.
