Hi my friend is thinking of a caravan (we have a folding camper) they have a hyundai i30 1.4 petrol they have been to a caravan place and was told they could tow 1200kg but they don't no if that's the max 100% I have tried to tell them about towing at 85% and that the 1200kg might also mean the awning, bedding pots not land water containers not just the caravan can I pls have some advise to pass on to them
Towing 100% or 85%
what weight caravan for the car
How much does pots not pans swings poles equipment etc weigh
Anything else that you may think of thanks c.

1200kg is the cars maximum legal towing weight. So any caravan must have a gross laden weight of less than that.

If they are new to towing then even thats probably too much.

1100kg should be their maximum gross laden weight.

But they also need to know what the cars gross train weight is.

The 1200kg maximum towing weight maybe with an empty car. So each passenger or item of luggage in the car reduces the towing weight by that amount.

I wouldnt want to tow 1100kg or 1200kg with a 1400cc engine.
