Hi all have changed my car to a 4x4 and need a little help when I go to hitch on the van the hitch handle(winterhoff) hits the spare wheel cover on the rear door it already has an extended towball on. Can I put a spacer in as well to push the hitch ball back an inch? The hitch is the right height for the van so don't have a problem there.

Hi reedrider, We use a VW Touran for towing vans at work and we have to open the spare wheel carrier which is fitted on to a hinged bar so we can hitch  caravans onthe back. With both winterhoff and Alko stableisers, Hope this is of some help.

I don't know what you mean by an extended towball

But if there nothing between the towball and the bracket it will depend on what the towbar manufacturer says in the spec

Witter for instance tell you what spacer you can use (usually 25mm)with their bars
