Hiya ladies at gentlemen

can any of you knowledgeable people tell me is it o.k. to tow a sprite major 5 with a volvo se lux sportwagon diesel. the car seems to have plenty of power.

Hi its volvo v50 the caravan max is 1330.

I can provide all the necessary details for the OP once I know the specific engine model of the V50 plus calculate the exact match but I can't do it if I don't have any specific details from the OP.

These figures are all based on a Volvo V50 diesel manual 2008 model and all have a maximum towball weight of 75 kgs.

1.6tdi (4 cylinder):  kerbweight = 1436 kgs. / 109 BHP / 177 lbs./ft. torque.

2.0tdi (4 cylinder):  kerbweight = 1479 kgs. / 136 BHP / 236 lbs/ft. torque.

2.4tdi (5 cylinder): kerbweight = 1568 kgs. / 180 BHP / 258 lbs./ft. torque.

Therefore the match with each vehicle and caravan with an MTPLM of 1330 would be as follows:

1.6tdi = 92.6%

2.0tdi = 90%

2.4tdi = 84.8%
