Hi,
After a bit of advice if you dont mind,
Is a Nose weight Gauge an essential piece of kit,
If so, Can you recommend a decent one, that is not going to break the Bank.
Thanks in advance

Bathroom scales & a couple of pieces of 4x2 cut to correct length works for me. If you always load caravan the same theres no need to weigh every time you hitch up.

We have the milenco. Despite some views I have always found the weight balance at the end of the hols to be different than from the start of our journey. During the holiday yuu use gas so the weight at the front is lighter. If you have just loaded a new full cylindar the weight at the front may be heavier. Food carried in the van going out has all gone when we come home so the weight in the van is lighter.
We always check the noseweight before each journey. It takes a few seconds, ensures a balanced load, and contributes towards a safe journey. We also use a Torque wrench to check the wheel nuts before we set off. So you may like to think about getting one of those as well. Halford do a good one. We also check the lights work before we set off. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of people I have seen follow this routine.
Phil

If its not calibrated then its probably not accurate.
The small yellow one in that link above is rubbish i tried one.
Used once and put back in the box and thrown into a dark corner. I wouldnt even dream of selling it because the buyer will moan its rubbish.

We use the Reich towbar load control as it is easy to use and read. See Reich towbar load control. It is accurate to within 2kgs.

I use the cheap one re calibrated with some accurate scales I check the nose weight every time also the lights , tyre pressures ,wheel nuts (we have those yellow pointers on the nuts ) we always have to move stuff about on the return journey to get the correct nose weight even though stuff goes back in its "place "

I use the Milenco, I have tried the cheap red one but felt that it was not that accurate, but better than not having one, I really feel that all caravanners should invest in the Milenco, like Phil says it is worth checking the noseweight both before and on the return trip of our holidays, I also usually get different readings. ------------- Andy

I checked the milenco gauge against the bathroom scales, found it to be a weekend away.
So I would say no just use the bathroom scales and a piece of wood.

The Milenco is supposed to be properly calibrated and is probably more accurate than the scales.
If you're not sure, you need to take the worst case figures.
